Houndstooth first became a trend around 1930 when Edward VIII was shown in Vogue magazine wearing a houndstooth patterned suit, which was immediately adopted by the English high society. In the neighboring Land of Fashion – France – it was Christian Dior who put houndstooth into the spotlight, making it the emblem of his fashion emporium. At The Nines, we regularly chose this elegant pattern for our collections, such as these petrol blue cotton lisle socks with blue houndstooth.
Produced in Italy, our cotton lisle socks are made of the finest Egyptian cotton, highly valued for its long and fine threads. Premium cotton is the perfect base for mercerisation, a chemical process, creating the famous cotton lisle. For even more finesse and comfort, our spinner uses a traditional machine with 240 needles instead of the common 200 needle machines and links the socks by hand.
Hand-linked, reinforced heel and toe, over the calf.
Made in Italy, by an established family-owned factory producing only small quantities located between Milan and Lake Maggiore.
100% Egyptian cotton. "Traceability and Fashion", "Fiducia nel Tessile", "Tessile e Salute", and "Cotton for Life" certified.
The socks are reinforced at the heel and toe. Mercerised cotton (known as cotton lisle or Fil d'Ecosse) allows for better dye-uptake and higher resistance. The machine used for making the socks has 40 needles more than the usual machines, offering smoothness and delicacy to the socks.
For an elegant combination, we recommend you pair these socks with a petrol blue tie.
