Midnight blue cotton lisle socks with red houndstooth pattern

Midnight blue cotton lisle socks with red houndstooth pattern

Give your plain coloured socks a well-deserved break! These midnight blue cotton lisle socks with red houndstooth pattern are an elegant alternative to the classic navy-blue socks. Premium Egyptian cotton has been mercerised by our Italian spinner to increase the wear resistance and allow better dye-uptake by the threads. It is this chemical process that creates the so-called cotton lisle.

The origin of the houndstooth pattern is a bit uncertain: supposedly it has been first worn by Scottish shepherds at the end of the 19th century, long before Christian Dior made it the emblem of his couture label in the fifties. This graphic pattern showing broken checks has since become one of the most iconic designs in fashion.

Hand-linked, reinforced heel and toe, over the calf.

Origin
Made in Italy, by an established family-owned factory producing only small quantities located between Milan and Lake Maggiore.

Material
100% Egyptian cotton. "Traceability and Fashion", "Fiducia nel Tessile", "Tessile e Salute", and "Cotton for Life" certified.

Quality guarantees
The socks are reinforced at the heel and toe. Mercerised cotton (known as cotton lisle or Fil d'Ecosse) allows for better dye-uptake and higher resistance. The machine used for making the socks has 40 needles more than the usual machines, offering smoothness and delicacy to the socks.
