These dark green cotton lisle socks have been spun in an elegant english green houndstooth pattern, caracterised by broken checks. It is believed, that this pattern was first worn by Scottish shepherds at the end of the 19th century, quite before Edward VIII was shown in Vogue magazine in 1934 wearing a houndstooth suit which started this fashion trend. In the fifties French couture designer Christian Dior made these abstract four-pointed shapes to the emblem of his label. At The Nines houndstooth has been decorating clothing and accessories for quite a while now.
Our socks are made of premium Egyptian cotton, spun on traditional machines with 240 needles, that is 40 needles more than commonly used spinning machines. This and the fact that our socks are hand linked by our Italian manufacturer results in the finest, softest and most comfortable socks you can imagine. Wear this pair of green cotton lisle socks with a grey suit, a brown belt and a tie of the same green hue!
Hand-linked, reinforced heel and toe, over the calf.
Made in Italy, by an established family-owned factory producing only small quantities located between Milan and Lake Maggiore.
100% Egyptian cotton. "Traceability and Fashion", "Fiducia nel Tessile", "Tessile e Salute", and "Cotton for Life" certified.
The socks are reinforced at the heel and toe. Mercerised cotton (known as cotton lisle or Fil d'Ecosse) allows for better dye-uptake and higher resistance. The machine used for making the socks has 40 needles more than the usual machines, offering smoothness and delicacy to the socks.
