Houndstooth, known as „pied-de-poule“ (chickenfoot) in France, is quite a funny name for such an elegant pattern. Houndstooth first became a trend in the 1930s, when the Prince of Wales, Edward VIII, was seen in a houndstooth suit in Vogue magazine. Designer Christian Dior then chose this graphic pattern as the emblem of his couture label. Nowadays it is not possible to imagine the fashion future without the broken checks.
These burgundy cotton lisle socks in red houndstooth have been designed in France and made of the finest Egyptian cotton in Italy. This premium cotton material is the perfect base for cotton lisle: this process of mercerization makes the cotton threads, especially wear resistant, adding a lustrous colour sheen. Result: elegant, comfortable socks that last!
Hand-linked, reinforced heel and toe, over the calf.
Made in Italy, by an established family-owned factory producing only small quantities located between Milan and Lake Maggiore.
100% Egyptian cotton. "Traceability and Fashion", "Fiducia nel Tessile", "Tessile e Salute", and "Cotton for Life" certified.
The socks are reinforced at the heel and toe. Mercerised cotton (known as cotton lisle or Fil d'Ecosse) allows for better dye-uptake and higher resistance. The machine used for making the socks has 40 needles more than the usual machines, offering smoothness and delicacy to the socks.
