It may come as a surprise that a scarf, an accessory supposed to keep one warm in winter, is woven from the hair of an animal that lives in the desert, a place synonymous with heat. What you need to know is camels do indeed have to endure very hot days, but once night falls, it gets very cold. Fortunately, their coat is perfectly adapted to this: temperature regulating, it is keeping the animal from getting to hot or freezing. Camel hair wool is also hygroscopic, which means that it absorbs moisture such as perspiration while remaining dry to the touch, as it immediately releases into the air. Soft and very pleasant against the skin, it is therefore a more than ideal wool for a winter scarf.
A camel wool scarf in the shade camel. It is indeed the animal that gave its name to the colour. And how better to honour this linguistic origin than by offering a camel-coloured camel hair scarf. Ours is woven in Biella, Italy. Considered the Italian capital of wool thanks to its streams and rivers that contributed to the growth of this industry, the city is still known for it today.
Made in Italy in a family-run workshop specialising in scarves, located in Biella, a town with a wool tradition since the 13th century.

Camel hair wool is very easy to care for, as it is partly "self-cleaning" requiring little to no washing. Like merino wool and cashmere, the scales of camel wool open and close with temperature changes. In fact, it is said that wool "breathes". It is therefore sufficient to let it freshen at the air. If washing is unavoidable, it is best to take your scarf to the dry cleaner.
