The ideal jacket for the transitional season
Lightweight, practical and perfect for layering
To each their favorite season. Some love winter, the slopes, snow, raclette and mulled wine and the end-of-year-partying. Others live for summer, long beach days, BBQs and chilled rosé, and even the sand you get everywhere. But between these two opposites, from a fashion and personal point of view, lie the best seasons: spring and autumn. In other words, the transitional seasons.
While rain, sun and wind take their turn - sometimes several times a day - it's usually mild enough to avoid having to bundle up in thick coats, scarves, hats and all that winter artillery. On the other hand, it's not too warm either, so your shirt doesn't stick to your back like a melted candy to its paper.
These optimal climate conditions make it possible to play with different garments and styles. In the spirit of layering: an oxford shirt under a chunky knit cardigan for a preppy look, a fine sweater under a structured shacket for a relaxed everyday look, a turtleneck under a corduroy jacket for a smart retro look....
And it is this smart look with a retro vibe we had in mind when we designed the corduroy jacket in three easy-to-wear fall colors.
Light in weight but strong in details
A 100% cotton corduroy
The key to a garment you want to keep for years is a quality fabric. And our fabric is a 100% cotton corduroy. Woven and dyed* in Spain, we've opted for an average weight of 250 g/m2 to maintain the lightness of a transitional jacket. And so you don't have to shiver in the morning cold, we fully lined the jacket.
A classic collar
To give our corduroy jacket a more elegant touch, we designed it with a classic collar. It suits all face shapes and can be easily combined with other classic but also modern stand-up collars.
Lots of pockets
You can never have enough pockets, especially if they are super practical and super secure. That's why our corduroy jacket has a total of 6:
2 flapped chest pockets, each with a corozo button. 2 slanted side pockets for your hands and for style with 1 hidden, zipped pocket for your keys. And 1 inside pocket, like on a suit jacket, to keep your phone or card case as safe as possible.
A casual cut
As for the cut, we opted for the same relaxed cut of our summer overshirt. This way, you can easily put on a sweater underneath without your arms sticking out from your torso.
*What is garment dyeing?
In garment dyeing, the final product is completely immersed in the desired dye. Unlike dyeing yarn or rolls of fabric, the color cannot be 100% controlled in this way and therefore imprints differently on seams, pocket edges or belt loops. The result is a beautiful, slightly vintage patina that will only get more beautiful with time.
How to wear corduroy jackets?
The beauty of layering pieces like a lightweight corduroy jacket is that you can create many different looks with it. A bit like the principle of Legos: one piece = a multitude of possibilities.
Style Inspo #1: Simple and effective
T-shirt, chinos, a pair of sneakers and the corduroy jacket in the color of your choice. If you stick with a white t-shirt and beige chinos, as in our example, all three colors of our corduroy jacket will match.
An easy everyday look for running errands, going for coffee, or hanging at the playground with the kids.
Style Inspo #2: Perfectly balanced
Replace the t-shirt with a modern stand-up collar shirt, like the mandarin collar shirt. You can keep the chinos, as they are the perfect casual and smart trousers.
A modern look that is smart enough for work or a party.
Style Inspo #3: Fall for retro
Another idea for the fall season: pair the corduroy jacket with a turtleneck sweater in extra-fine merino wool and suit trousers. A pair of derbies will complete the look.
Choosing the color palette of our example between brown and gray tones will result in a smart look with a retro vibe in the style of an Ivy League professor.
Made in Tunisia
The atelier that makes our ideas reality
The summer of 2022 we hit a lot of milestones, as many of our long-dreamed-of designs became reality. The fact that it took three years after our initial designs to start production of our chinos, overshirts and bermuda shorts was due to the fact that we had to find the right partner atelier for this.
And we found this tailoring atelier on the other side of the Mediterranean, opposite our weaver, in the north of Tunisia. Founded in 2004, the atelier is a member of the Fair Wear Foundation and is thus committed to sustainable development.
Because of these shared beliefs and the quality of their work, we have entrusted our partner with the production of part of our fall-winter collection, such as the corduroy jacket.
