The Nines x Alex Cormac 2025

When we proposed to Alex last year that we work together on a few bold pieces that would embody both his pronounced taste for sartorial workwear and our vision of timeless elegance, the challenge was as great as the enthusiasm generated by this capsule collection, which sold out in a matter of days. We naturally made plans for an even more original and ambitious spring collection.

Make way for the 3-piece suit

The starting point of this ambitious and daring development is our shared knowledge of what future newlyweds expect for the Big Day. At The Nines, we outfit a large number of couples every year with shirts and ties who come to exchange ideas and put together their look in our Parisian boutiques. Alex, for his part, has responded to dozens (perhaps even hundreds?) of requests for style advice on the subject.

Expectations revealed

Armed with this entirely relative legitimacy, we set to work on the perfect 3-piece suit for the big day. And here is what seemed essential to us:

- Beautiful proportions, with generous lapels on the jacket side and high-waisted trousers with lovely pleats for an impeccable drape.

- Structured shoulders for a build befitting the significance of the occasion.

- A lightweight fabric that holds its shape: fresh wool seemed indispensable to us, with its thermoregulating properties and resistance to creasing

- A versatile dark blue fabric colour that will catch the light with cobalt glints, allowing you to opt for accessories or

- A streamlined 6-button waistcoat to keep the overall look uncluttered

- Finishing details that make a difference, such as angled flap pockets, adjustable tabs and even buttons on the inside of the trousers to accommodate braces.

The result? The Ostara 3-piece suit turns out to be a completely versatile suit, suited just as well to grand occasions as to everyday wear.

The trousers feature a wide cut, high waist, 5 cm turn-ups, forward-facing pleats and adjustable tabs for optimal comfort.

The waistcoat is lapel-free with a martingale to adjust the silhouette and open pockets to carry a pocket watch.

The jacket is inspired by Tom Ford's designs, with a structured shoulder, angled flap pockets, a ticket pocket and a substantial pointed lapel to enhance the build.

For the fabric, we opted for the fresh wool from the Italian house Zignone de Biella, a cloth we know well having already offered it, and which has always received excellent feedback. And indeed tested and approved by Erwan, co-founder of The Nines, at his wedding in September 2023!
