The paisley pattern hails from Babylon, over 3000 years ago.

It represents a date-palm leaf, the ultimate symbol of fertility. As time passed, the pattern was forgotten. It remained very popular in India, however, and in particular in Kashmir. In the 18th century, fabrics imported from these regions enjoyed such success that several workshops began reproducing the paisley pattern themselves. To this day, paisley remains a symbol of life and longevity.
