Blue Friday
Imported directly from the United States, Black Friday has become widespread in France since 2013. Like countless businesses, The Nines was also part of the movement and offered its own series of promotions on the last Friday of November. Only this year did we decide to not have a Black Friday and, thus, not have any promotions.
WHY MAKE THIS CHOICE?
Simply because we're against the hype brought about by this event. It started out with a Friday of promotions with reasonable discounts of 20 to 30 percent; this has turned into one whole week of promotions reaching 70 to 80 percent off.
The Nines, put simply, cannot start on this downward spiral of overconsumption if we want to keep on offering you quality products at lower prices. Inflate our prices year-round so we can offer you these kinds of promotions once a year? That's not enough for us!
As a matter of fact, we do everything in our power to offer you a quality array of products for elegant men at the most reasonable prices. In order to do so, we carefully select our raw materials as well as our manufacturers; we prefer the shortest distribution chain by limiting the number of middlemen...
BLUE FRIDAY, NOT BLACK FRIDAY
So, to have our approach make even more sense, we've chosen to have a Blue Friday.
What does that mean? Simply put, we've decided to donate 10% of our proceeds over the weekend to an organisation we believe in. Taking environmental issues to heart and increasingly shifting towards a more environmentally responsible approach, we've naturally gone with the "Surfrider" organisation. This group is responsible for protecting and providing awareness of our lakes, rivers, ocean, waves and the coastline. Among other things, Surfrider aims to fight water pollution and the abundance of aquatic waste equal to approximately one third of the American continent.
Thus, The Nines isn't doing a Black Friday; instead, The Nines is taking a stance, whether it's prices and quality on a daily basis or initiatives like this one!
