The choice of materials used for the manufacture of our socks has been carefully thought out. Indeed, our objective is to offer comfortable socks adapted to all types of feet. The Scottish thread sock is the result of a process called mercerization which makes the sock light and comfortable. The wool sock is a light, warm and resistant sock. Finally the cotton sock has hypoallergenic properties and allows good foot ventilation. Three patterns for the most daring: striped, houndstooth or caviar. You can also find your plain socks of course. So, whether you prefer to wear classic and sober socks, or more eccentric ones like our English neighbors, we have selected a wide range of products to satisfy all your desires. The different materials
Combed cotton socks are manufactured in Italy and hand-linked to bring you maximum comfort. Combed cotton is softer, more resistant and more brilliant than ordinary cotton. It is also STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certified, thus guaranteeing greater respect for your skin and the environment. These socks are ideal for refreshing a casual outfit and accompanying sneakers.
Scottish thread socks are high-quality socks, ideal for enhancing a dressed outfit. To increase the softness of our Scottish thread socks, our workshop uses a traditional knitting machine composed of 240 needles, 40 more than most machines used for sock manufacturing. In summer or winter, Scottish thread can be worn in any temperature thanks to its moisture absorption capacity.
Socks made from organic Nile cotton are recognized for their extreme softness made possible thanks to the length of its fibers. This organic cotton is composed of two different Egyptian cottons: Giza 45, considered the best cotton in the world, and Giza 87, very precious cotton cultivated in the Nile Delta with a great capacity to preserve colors.
Merino wool socks have many advantages: they absorb moisture better and neutralize bad odors. In winter, merino wool protects from the cold. At the same time, in summer, this precious wool provides a refreshing effect to your feet.
Cashmere socks - animal fiber from the undercoat of the goat of the same name - are ideal when the days start to get cooler. Cashmere is also renowned for its breathable properties and is very pleasant to wear, without scratching.
The different patterns
Stripes allow you to bring originality to an outfit and subtly brighten it up. We advise you to match your striped socks in the same tones as your tie or bow tie if you wear one, or to make a subtle reminder of a color already present in your outfit.

The caviar pattern is characterized by the use of two threads of different colors knitted together that blend for a unique melted rendering. This discreet pattern – which seems to be solid when seen from afar - will go perfectly with your entire wardrobe.

The houndstooth pattern is a timeless and graphic print. Made from Egyptian cotton spun on a machine composed of 240 needles, the houndstooth socks are hand-linked for more comfort. They are perfect to alternate with your plain Scottish thread socks, striped or caviar pattern. Houndstooth socks are the subtle link between your shoes and your pants. We advise you to opt for complementary colors for an elegant rendering.

Here are a few tips for choosing the right socks for each season:
-Summer: opt for cotton or linen socks. Cotton is light, breathable and absorbent, keeping your feet cool and dry on hot days. Linen socks, on the other hand, are equally light and quick-drying, offering a refreshing feeling.
-Autumn and spring: socks made from a blend of cotton and polyester or light wool are ideal. These materials offer good insulation while remaining breathable. Cotton-bamboo blends are also a good option, as they are soft and provide pleasant temperature regulation.
-Winter: opt for wool or fleece socks. Wool is an excellent thermal insulator, keeping feet warm yet breathable. Fleece socks, which are often thicker, offer extra comfort and warmth on colder days.
At The Nines, men's sock sizes are generally based on shoe size. Here are the available sizes:

It is always advisable to check the specific size guide available on the product sheets, as this may vary slightly. If you hesitate between two sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger size for greater comfort.
For daily use, we recommend socks made of combed cotton or mercerized cotton (Lisle thread). These materials are breathable, durable, and comfortable—perfect for an active day. Mid-calf or ankle socks are particularly suitable, depending on your style and needs. If you're looking for optimal support and an elegant finish, fine ribbed socks are an excellent choice. For cooler seasons, opt for merino wool socks, which provide thermal insulation while remaining lightweight and comfortable.

Socks that slip down can result from several factors:
-Incorrect size: If the socks are too large, they won’t stay in place properly. Make sure to choose a size that fits your foot perfectly.
-Worn-out elastic: Over time and with washing, the elastic may lose its stretch. Following care instructions helps extend their lifespan.
-Unsuitable fabric: Some materials can be more slippery, especially when paired with smooth shoes or tights. Fabrics containing elastane generally provide better hold.
To avoid this problem:
-Choose socks that fit your size and prioritize models with good elastic.
-Wash your socks at low temperatures to preserve their elasticity.
-If necessary, opt for longer socks or those with reinforced elastic bands.
