Gatsby dandy style demystified
The Great Gatsby takes centre stage!
Gatsby is a bit of a mix between power, bowties, cocktails, and pomaded hair.
This cinematic interpretation of the novel is not only about the success and charisma of a young, New York millionaire, but, most of all, itis about his one-of-a-kind style!
In the 2013 adaptation by the Australian Baz Luhrmann – granted, there was already an interpretation in 1974 where Robert Redford embodied Gatsby –it is Leonardo DiCaprio who assumes the role of Gatsby and his distinctive look.
Do you also wear a 3-piece suit in beige linen to your first date?
Since – naturally – Gatsby does not depart from the fashions of the Roaring Twenties. Incidentally, many designers were inspired by this look, which you will certainly find this summer in the wardrobes of certain men and women.
In order to give a touch of modernity and colour to this ensemble, we recommend adding a pocket square, cufflinks or a colourful school tie.
Gatsby has more than one trick up his sleeve when it comes to his wardrobe. For every occasion, his outfit: 3-piece suit for the first date, brown suit for a weekend get away to the country side at the wheel of his convertible, or perhaps a dinner jacket for receptions. The dinner jacket is usually worn with a bowtie and white shirt with French cuffs and wing-tip collar.
No matter the occasion, he never leaves home without his old school tie, bowtie or waistcoat, thus remaining elegant at all times.
Most of all, don't forget your red carpet!
