How to fold your shirts winklefree
2 November 2016

A wrinkle-free shirt is a must for a well-groomed appearance.
With these instructions you will easily be able to fold your shirt in a way that no wrinkles are being formed.
Preparation is the key
- The shirt should be washed only by following the washing instructions or could be brought to a dry-cleaner. This is the first step for a good looking shirt.
- You should dry your shirt on a hanger in order to avoid breaking the fibers of the shirt.
- Iron your shirt until all wrinkles are gone. If wrinkles are in the shirt already before folding it, it will be hard to get them out later. After the ironing allow your shirt to cool down a bit with its buttons closed.
Be careful: If you have a Japanese Collar shirt, Tab Collar shirt, Pin Collar shirt or French Collar Shirt, we advise you to not iron the whole collar at once, but iron just until the crease from both sides.
The folding
- Place the buttoned shirt with the front side facing down. Make sure you are having enough space and a flat, hard surface.
- Now fold the left side on the right one. For this use approximately one third of the whole shirt.
- Next fold down the sleeve and pull it flat.
- Proceed the same way with the right side. Don’t forget to pull it flat!
- Especially with double cuff shirts make sure the cuffs are lying flat.
- Now fold the lower part of the shirt up over the cuffs and up to the collar.
- Finally carefully turn around the shirt, pull it flat and arrange the collar.
Et voilà – with this instruction you should be able to fold your shirt without getting wrinkles.
However, we would always advise you to hang your shirts on hangers if you have the right facilities for it.
