Among the great number of cotton varieties, a plant cultivated worldwide, the Sea Island variety sets itself apart from others as a sort of white gold. Highly prized, some brands opt to use this cotton variety. However, it is often mislabelled; only a certificate from the specialized organisation West Indian Sea Island Cotton Association (WISICA) guarantees the authenticity of Sea Island cotton shirt.
Known for its rarity, Sea Island cotton, cultivated in the British Antilles on the island of Barbados (where the climate is ideal for growing cotton flower), is used in the manufacture of exceptional fabrics. Reserved for the manufacture of the finest dress shirts, Sea Island cotton accounts for 0.0004% of the world’s cotton production. Its fibre, at least 3 times longer than all other cottons, makes it possible to get threads of exceptional quality. Too delicate to be harvested mechanically, this cotton is thus harvested entirely by hand. Its super fine two-ply weave (120/2 x 120/2) gives the cotton a one-of-a-kind feel and softness. It is also very lightweight with a weight of 128 g/m2.
These shirts are designed exclusively by our teams in Paris and take shape in Bressuire, in the Deux-Sèvres, one of the most famous regions in France for its expertise in textiles. Another undeniable advantage, unlike a lot of other white fabrics often found on the market: despite its fineness, the fabric used in our Sea Island shirts is completely opaque. The Sea Island is low maintenance. We recommend washing it at 30°c and to avoid using the tumble dryer.
Here’s a sure way to make your outfit pop; it also happens to be one of the most versatile collars. The shark collar shirt combines subtlety and modernity. It can depending on the occasion, be worn either with a large-knotted tie (ideally a Windsor or double Windsor) or without for a more casual look. A bow-tie also pairs well with a shark collar. Furthermore, the shark collar shirt can be worn unbuttoned for a more casual look. Its shape enables it to complement all face types. A real must-have in any man’s wardrobe! In addition to this, we've paid close attention to the buttons. We have chosen Troca mother-of-pearl buttons, a shellfish that essentially lives in the waters of New Caledonia. Mother-of-pearl is a 100% natural material and can have slight irregularities. These buttons are assembled on dovetail. This means that they are slightly raised which makes it easier to button your shirt.
