Le choix d'un nœud papillon dépend avant tout de la tenue et de l'occasion. Un modèle en soie unie apportera une touche classique, tandis qu'un motif ou une texture plus marquée permettra de personnaliser davantage une silhouette.
Le nœud papillon se porte avec une chemise adaptée, dont le col doit laisser suffisamment de place autour du cou. Il doit rester proportionné au visage et compléter la tenue sans devenir l'unique élément remarqué.
