The silk is woven in Como at one of Italy's oldest weavers, a passionate family business with unique expertise. In order to offer you high-quality ties, we use only beautiful natural materials such as silk, cotton, linen and wool. The unique know-how of our workshops allows us to guarantee impeccable quality, with the smallest details subject to extremely rigorous quality control.

That is why all our The Nines ties feature an internal wool interlining. This padded interlining gives it extra body and thickness. This interlining, a guarantee of elasticity, allows the tie to return to its original shape after being tied. It is one of the major components in tie making, conferring upon it a rich and delicate "feel".

The interlining used varies depending on the thickness of the fabric, so that the tie falls perfectly and to rebalance its density. Furthermore, you will find on our The Nines ties a silk lining (generally, polyester is used for linings) in a colour similar to the tie or with a pattern that pairs perfectly with the tie, for added originality. This silk lining, a hallmark of quality, will give your tie a better feel and better drape.

Attention to the smallest details

Always in the perpetual pursuit of impeccable quality for our ties, the seamstresses carry out all the steps of tie making, up to the final stitch, the bartak stitch. You will find this stitch on both ends of your tie; it finalises the 29 steps of tie making by binding them together. This stitch is made by wrapping the thread around the needle 18 times.

Finally, you will see a loop-shaped thread on the small blade of your tie; this is the tension thread that allows you to re-tension the fabric of your tie after wearing it.

Our care advice

To care for your tie, we recommend that you untie the knot every day when you remove it, to prevent the fibres from becoming damaged. Then, hang it so that it does not crease. When you travel, you can roll it up on itself.
