Looking for a garment that was breathable, absorbent, and minimized friction with their shoulders when wearing their uniforms, they turned to the crew neck. The popularity of this iconic garment then spread to other students at the university, who ultimately cemented its success.
Cashwool®: merino wool or cashmere?
100% extra-fine merino wool providing exceptional softness and solid durability, Cashwool® is an incredible blend of nature and technology developed in the late 1970s by Zegna Baruffa, a historic Italian weaver. To achieve this level of fineness and softness similar to cashmere, the weaver selects only the softest and finest parts of the wool. The result is this expert balance between softness and robustness.

First turning its needles in the late 1960s, our production workshop is an Italian family-run studio specializing in knitwear clothing and accessories. Using wool certified mulesing-free by the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) label, which ensures the welfare of sheep in wool production, Cashwool® wool also holds the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 label, which guarantees the non-toxicity of the textiles and dyes used.
