Winter is just around the corner, bringing with it its sometimes unpredictable days. Gone are the days of linen t-shirts and lightweight bermuda shorts — it's time for… overshirts!
Worn over or under other layers, the overshirt adapts to changing weather conditions in the blink of an eye. Depending on its material and thickness, it can replace your jacket during the transitional seasons or be worn under a heavy coat in the depths of winter — this is what we call layering. A true wardrobe staple, the classic-collar overshirt gracefully reveals the other pieces you have carefully selected: a shirt, a turtleneck, a lightweight crew-neck sweater… It's your chance to express your personality!
As you can see, the overshirt is the easy-to-throw-on piece for any weather! And ours, with its 307 g per m² of mulesing-free certified wool plus the lining, will keep you equipped all winter long. Water-repellent, durable, warm, and wrinkle-resistant, it's no wonder boiled wool has been used for ages by Scandinavian peoples and mountain hunters!

Boiled wool: a fabric perfectly suited to its season
The base: 100% virgin wool
To design a winter overshirt capable of withstanding the season's harsh conditions, the choice of material seemed obvious to us right away: a 100% wool fabric that thermoregulates, keeping you warm when it's cold and breathing by wicking moisture when it's warm. Quite practical for avoiding unpleasant odors.
Wool, certainly, but not just any wool! We set our sights on our Italian partner MTT (the Manifattura Tessile Toscana). A specialist in dense wool fabrics since the 1960s, boiled wool has been at the heart of their expertise for over 30 years.
The felting process
But what exactly is boiled wool? No sheep or ball of wool has been cooked in a pot of boiling water. It is only after being knitted that the wool fabrics go through the felting or fulling stage. In a felting machine, they are submerged in a hot water bath and subjected to vigorous beating so that the wool fibers open up and then tighten back together. It is this process that traps air bubbles in the wool and produces that felted appearance. In terms of finishing, and in order to be called "boiled wool", the wool coming out of the felting machine is dyed and then pressed or decatized. And there you have it: you get a warm, pleasant, and versatile wool that can be adapted to your needs.
