The overshirt, your new anti-chill companion
Practicality, comfort and style
Winter is just around the corner with its sometimes capricious days. Gone are the days of linen t-shirts and light bermuda shorts, the time has come for... overshirts!
Over or under, the overshirt adapts to climate changes in a snap. Depending on its material and thickness, it can replace your jacket in mid-season or slip under a heavy coat in the depths of winter - we call that layering. A true statement piece in your wardrobe, the classic collar overshirt subtly reveals the other pieces you've carefully selected: a shirt, a turtleneck, a lightweight crewneck sweater... It's time to express your personality!
As you can see, the overshirt is the easy piece to throw on in any weather! And ours, with its 307 g per m² of mulesing-free certified wool plus the lining, will equip you all winter long. Water-repellent, resistant, warm and wrinkle-free, no wonder boiled wool has been used for ages by Scandinavian peoples and Alpine hunters!

Boiled wool: a fabric perfectly suited to its season
The foundation: 100% virgin wool
To design a winter overshirt resistant to the season's weather, the choice of material seemed immediately obvious: a 100% wool fabric that's thermoregulating, keeping you warm when it's cold and breathing by wicking away moisture when it's hot. Pretty practical for avoiding bad odors.
Wool, yes, but not just any wool! We set our sights on our Italian partner MTT (Manifattura Tessile Toscana). A specialist in dense wool fabrics since the 1960s, boiled wool has been at the heart of their expertise for over 30 years.
The felting treatment
But what exactly is boiled wool? No sheep or ball of yarn was cooked in a pot of boiling water. It's only after being knitted that the wool fabrics go through the felting or fulling stage. In a felting machine, they plunge into a hot water bath and undergo vigorous beating so the wool fibers open up, then tighten. It's this process that deposits air bubbles in the wool and achieves that felted appearance. For finishing and to be called "boiled wool," the wool coming out of the felting machine is dyed then pressed or decatized. And there you have it: you get a warm, pleasant wool that's adaptable to your needs.
