An exceptional fabric from Loro Piana
100% Super 130's merino wool
Like wine, suit fabrics have their own quality rating system : Super + number. While the term Super refers to pure wool, the number corresponds to the fineness of fibers measuring the number of fibers woven per cm². The higher this number, the finer and softer the wool. But beware, finer also means more prone to wrinkling. For an everyday suit that you'll wear both to the office and evening events, the ideal count will be 120's or 130's, corresponding to a fiber diameter of 17.25 μm. Result: a beautiful suit that's fluid, comfortable to wear, and sufficiently resistant at main pressure points like knees and elbows.
A weight of 260 g/ml, ideal for all seasons
The fabric of the Loro Piana suit comes from the Four Seasons range by Loro Piana, an Italian weaver of exceptional textiles for six generations. Made from merino wool, its 260 g/ml thickness is ideal for year-round wear, as the fabric range's name so well indicates. For the choice of colors and patterns, you made the decision: a navy blue basketweave and two Prince of Wales checks, one in slate blue and the other in grey.
A solid construction with natural drape
The half-canvassed or semi-traditional construction
Both the soul and skeleton of a suit, the construction or canvas of a suit defines the quality of its drape, comfort, and longevity, as well as its price! The canvas is the invisible part of a suit jacket that lies between the fabric and the lining. This interlining can be assembled in three different ways, from least to most expensive: fused, half-canvassed, or fully canvassed. So you can enjoy your suit 365 days a year for years to come, we chose the half-canvassed construction, as with our other suits. During jacket assembly, a horsehair canvas is sewn between the fabric and lining at the chest, giving more flexibility and a natural drape to the garment. The bottom, less affected by movement, is fused.
A fitted cut for a modern silhouette
The fitted cut is the perfect balance between a slim and a straight cut that will give you a timeless look. It's actually the same as on our other suits. Aware that it's less obvious to choose a sleeved piece, meaning a coat or suit, online, we've provided a little extra fabric in the seams (without losing any comfort) so you can have the Loro Piana suit adjusted to your body shape.
The jacket: Italian elegance
For the cut details, we took all your requests into account and added our The Nines twist:
- A straight jacket with slim lapels of 6.5 cm with two buttons
- A button line at the waist and two back vents create a slender silhouette
- Neapolitan shoulders follow the natural fall of your frame and the back length reaches approximately mid-buttocks
- Two flap pockets adorn both sides of the jacket (which you can tuck in if you prefer)
- A piped ticket pocket is placed above the right pocket
- The first two of the four buttonholes on the sleeves are closed to allow you to adjust sleeve length
- All buttons are horn, harmonizing with the fabric
The pants: the modern balance of semi
Like the jacket, the Loro Piana suit pants perfectly maintain the balance of timeless elegance, and the magic word behind this balance is semi. These pants are semi-slim - in other words, fitted but not too much - and semi-high waisted to suit most men. For the finishes, you chose two classic front pockets and two piped back pockets, with a classic zip fly and double-button closure. Belt loops allow you to add your favorite belt. And so you can have the pants adjusted to your size and taste, the hem is unfinished.
It can also be worn without the jacket
Normally, you don't separate a matching set, but you can definitely wear the Loro Piana suit pants with a shirt or thin sweater and a pair of dress sneakers on a Friday at the office or for after-work drinks.
We took your feedback into account
To create this suit, we didn't need to survey your interest, since many of you always ask us to expand our suit offering. So, we had you work directly on the design to develop exactly the suit you'll want to wear every day of the year! Here's your creation:
An elegant suit 365 days a year!
Whether you choose it more classic in deep navy basketweave or with the elegant and timeless Prince of Wales pattern, you can wear it every day of the year and for all occasions! Depending on your preferences, it can be dressed down for a casual chic look with sneakers and a modern collar shirt, or more elegant with derby shoes and a classic collar shirt and tie.
European craftsmanship between France, Italy and Romania
The best of sartorial expertise
We've been working with the same suit maker for 5 years, whose production has been established for over 20 years in Romania's historic textile region. Combining the best of Italian and Romanian tailoring expertise while drawing inspiration from timeless French elegance, the true strength of this European manufacturing workshop lies in pattern making - the development of cuts - and canvas construction - the jacket's structure. The care given to these two parts of manufacturing is worthy of made-to-measure confection, ensuring a perfect and natural drape for a long-lasting garment.
Which suit size to choose?
Some say buying a suit online is like playing the lottery: either you're lucky and have a very balanced body type, or you need to meticulously calculate possible statistical combinations to find the suit size that fits your measurements. However, finding the right suit size isn't that complicated. To make things easier, let's review the basics of suit sizing:
The suit size is defined by the jacket size, which corresponds to half the chest measurement in cm. Example: if your chest measurement is 92 cm, your jacket size is calculated by dividing 92/2, which equals 46.
Since the suit is a two-piece set that cannot be separated when purchasing, the pants size depends on the jacket size and its drop. The drop - the difference between the top and bottom measurements of a set - is 6 for the Loro Piana suit to suit the vast majority of men. Example: a size 46 jacket will come with size 40 pants.
