Tie clips
Tie pins make it possible to wear a tie without necessarily wearing a jacket.Americans believe the pin should be placed low enough to be hidden by the jacket, if one is worn. As for the British, they prefer not to wear tie pins at all! The British are often right when it comes to men’s elegance, but they do not have a monopoly on the matter.

The different types of tie clips
The tie clip can be slid or pinched between the shirt and the tie. The clips we offer at The Nines are slim or normal size. The added value of a tie clip lies in the fact that it will reflect, just like a cufflink, your sense of style and enhance the other pieces of your look.
Whether you prefer to slide it or clip it onto your shirt, both types of clips have the same objective: to ensure that your tie maintains an impeccable appearance at all times.
Color and finish
The first rule about the finish of your tie clip is that it should be similar to that of your other accessories, such as your watch, cufflinks, or bracelets. For example, a gold tie clip will pair perfectly with gold cufflinks.
Use colors sparingly. Indeed, some colors are bolder than others and difficult to match. Similarly, certain shade combinations clash. However, other colors such as gold work well with many combinations, for example with navy blue or burgundy. Finally, if you opt for a black tie, you'll have more matching possibilities.
Position and size
It's important to position the clip properly so that it holds the tie securely. Too high, and you'll crush the tie, causing it to spread out. Too low, and the clip will no longer be useful as your tie will have an irregular and altered shape. The most useful place for your clip to keep your ties well-positioned will be under the third button of your shirt, or even before the fourth button.
The tie should be wider than the clip because the opposite is not elegant. If you're wearing a slim tie, pair it with a slim clip. The same applies for a wide tie. The clip generally measures between 2 and 7 cm. We advise you to test different clip sizes on the chosen tie, and opt for the one that suits it best!
Matching with the outfit
The tie clip works with any type of outfit. You can certainly wear one with a blazer or cardigan, for example. Just make sure it's visible, or even elevated if you're wearing a closed jacket, to always enhance the elegance of your ensemble.
However, remember to match the type of tie clip with the material of the tie: a pinch tie clip should not be used to keep a wool tie in place, for example, as it risks damaging the knit.
