What is Twill
Twill is often associated with a fabric, although it exists, Twill is primarily a weave. The twill shirt is characterized by diagonal ribs that are due to the weaving technique. The twill weave corresponds to the passage of a warp thread below a weft thread, then above two weft threads. This weaving technique enhances colors and brings light to the fabric.
Twill can be distinguished by the naked eye by its diagonals formed by the weaving technique. These diagonals give a textured effect to the fabric. Twill shirts are soft and comfortable to wear. This supple fabric is easy to care for and irons quickly.
Twill or poplin shirt?
Twill and poplin are both formal fabrics, so don't worry if you're not sure which one to choose, whichever you decide you won't make any missteps. Poplin and twill can be distinguished with the naked eye. Poplin is a finer fabric and therefore more transparent than twill.
We therefore cannot recommend one over the other as both are perfect. It's up to you to decide which product suits you best. These are two very comfortable materials to wear, you will feel light and at ease in your shirt.
Some style tips
From a stylistic point of view, we have several models of Twill shirts, so you can create different looks. Some shirts have more formal collars and others more casual. For a meeting with colleagues, opt for a French collar twill shirt in blue that you can pair with a suit. For a dressy but casual look, for example to go to an after-work event, choose a white twill shirt with an inverted collar. Wear it loose over your jeans with a pair of sneakers.
